Armenia's Foreign Minister Leaves Cabinet Meeting for Planned Call with CSTO Chief
The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ara Aivazyan, had a telephone conversation with the Secretary General of the CSTO, Stanislav Zas, on May 13. During the call, Aivazyan presented the situation created following the recent incident at the state border of Armenia that occurred on May 12.
Aivazyan deemed the attempts by Azerbaijan to infringe upon the sovereign territory of Armenia, a CSTO member, as unacceptable, stating that this poses a serious threat to regional security and stability.
According to sources, the two discussed the application of the provisions of the Collective Security Treaty and the mechanisms specified in the CSTO charter in similar situations.
It is noteworthy that today AuroraNews contacted the press secretary of the Foreign Ministry, who confirmed that there was a planned telephone conversation, which is why the minister left the meeting unfinished. It was also mentioned that the Foreign Ministry would issue an official statement.
