Who and How Much is Paid for Childcare Benefits for Children Under Two

The childcare benefit for children under two years old is provided monthly at a rate of 26,500 drams until the child turns two.

The benefit is granted to parents who are salaried employees and on parental leave for a child up to three years old.

A salaried parent's childcare benefit starts from:

• The 1st of the month following the month in which parental leave begins, if the application and necessary documents are submitted within 12 months of the start of the parental leave.
• The 1st of the month following the month of application, if the application and necessary documents are submitted more than 12 months after the start of the parental leave.

The childcare benefit for children under two is also granted to parents registered and residing at a rural address (if the child was born on or after July 1, 2020), provided that, as of the date of application for the childbirth or childcare benefits, they have been registered continuously at this address for at least one year.

Rural parents also receive the childcare benefit at the rate of 26,500 drams until the child turns two. If the rural parent is also a salaried employee, the benefit is paid at a total of 53,000 drams.

If the one-year registration period at the rural address ends before the child’s birth date, and the parent applies for childcare benefits within 12 months following the child reaching 70 days old, the benefit is granted starting from the 1st of the month following the child reaching 70 days old.

If the one-year registration period at the rural address ends after the child’s birth date, and the parent applies within 12 months following the registration period, the benefit is granted starting from the 1st of the month following the completion of the one-year registration period.

The childcare benefit for children under two is granted starting from the 1st of the month following the application if the application and necessary documents are submitted after the aforementioned 12-month period.

Parents can apply for the childcare benefit online via online.ssa.am or at the local branch of the Unified Social Service by providing (including through another person) their ID, tax identification number, as well as the child's birth certificate and tax identification number.
