Vahagn Vermishyan Demands Arrest of Pashinyan's Property, Claims 3 Million
The former chairman of the Urban Development Committee, Vahagn Vermishyan, has filed a lawsuit against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Vermishyan has demanded a retraction of what he describes as slanderous information and a public apology for damaging his honor, dignity, and business reputation.
Recently, the plaintiff filed a motion for interim measures, requesting the court to place a lien on all movable and immovable property belonging to Nikol Pashinyan. Vermishyan’s representative, Ani Muradyan, discussed the motion with us, stating: “In addition to demanding that Nikol Pashinyan retract false information and apologize, we are also seeking compensation of three million drams. If the claim is satisfied, we have concerns that Nikol Pashinyan may try to avoid paying that amount. Statistics indicate that a significant majority will not vote in favor of Nikol Pashinyan, which is why we have sought to secure our claim.”
The lawyer also mentioned that the case has been assigned to judges known for their impartial approach, but she cannot predict whether the motion will be granted or not at this time. Aside from this motion, they currently have no other requests.
The court has yet to accept the case for proceedings. It is worth noting that Vahagn Vermishyan was charged with accepting a particularly large bribe. He was arrested on February 5, 2020. One of the individuals involved in Vermishyan's case is John Farshoyan, the former head of the Yerevan investigative department of the Investigative Committee. The NSS had submitted a request to the court for his detention, which was also granted. However, Farshoyan's defense team subsequently petitioned for his release on bail. The court approved their request, and Farshoyan was released.
