San Marino Reveals Effectiveness Percentage of Sputnik V Vaccine

The use of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine in San Marino has shown that its effectiveness approaches 100%, surpassing the results of published scientific studies. This was announced by Minister of Health and Social Security Roberto Chavata.

He recalled that most vaccinations in the country have been conducted with the help of Sputnik V, which has become the subject of two studies carried out by San Marino's authorities in collaboration with the University of Bologna and the National Institute for Infectious Diseases Lazzaro Spallanzani in Rome.

The secretary specified that the second study is related to the quantitative and qualitative assessment of antibodies in the body after vaccination. “Currently, we still do not have specific data; the research is still in progress. The data we have received indicates the effectiveness of the Sputnik V vaccine, which is higher than the figures published in The Lancet and other well-known scientific journals. Thus, we see that three weeks after the second dose of the vaccine, the effectiveness of Sputnik V is close to 100%,” said Chavata during an online conference dedicated to the vaccination campaign in San Marino.

The Sputnik V vaccine has already been approved in over 60 countries with a total population of more than 3.2 billion. In terms of the number of approvals received from state regulators, Sputnik V ranks second in the world. According to analysis results from 3.8 million vaccinated Russians, the vaccine's effectiveness has been determined to be 97.6%, which is a higher figure than those previously published by The Lancet (91.6%), reported the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Gamaleya National Center.
