16-Year-Old Teen Arrested in Australia for Aiming Laser at Aircraft

A 16-year-old teenager in Australia has been arrested for aiming a laser at an aircraft that was attempting to land at an airport.

Reports indicate that the teenager pointed a green laser from the backyard of his home in Bexley towards the flight path of a commercial flight, according to 9News.

Police came to the boy's house and arrested him. According to police, he was taken to the Cogger police station and later released.

Earlier this month, police had warned about the dangers of pointing illegal laser pointers at aircraft. “It is unsafe to point a laser at an aircraft at any distance and under any circumstances,” stated New South Wales's aviation commander, Brad Monks. “Laser beams can impair the vision of individuals inside an aircraft and pose a serious threat to the safety of crew and passengers.”
