ICRC Helps Armenian Prisoners in Azerbaijan Connect with Family Members
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is visiting Armenian prisoners held in Azerbaijan and assisting them in establishing contact with their families. This information was stated in a message released by the ICRC's Armenian office.
“We continue to visit those who are detained as a result of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, whose detention has been officially confirmed. We assist them in maintaining contact with their families. This is done through messages delivered by the ICRC, verbal communications, and recently also through phone calls and pre-recorded video messages,” the ICRC's announcement stated.
According to various data from the Armenian side, there are approximately 200 Armenian prisoners of war in Azerbaijan. To date, 73 prisoners have been returned to Armenia.
