France Calls for Immediate Release of Armenian Prisoners Held in Azerbaijan
The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs has emphasized the necessity for the immediate release of Armenian prisoners held in Azerbaijan. In a post on the Ministry's Twitter page, they attached the May 5 statement from the co-chairmen of the OSCE Minsk Group.
“We call for the immediate release of all Armenian prisoners. The release of three Armenian detainees held in Azerbaijan on May 4 is a positive gesture in this direction,” stated the French Foreign Ministry.
On May 5, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs Igor Popov (Russia), Stephan Visconti (France), and Andrew Schofer (USA) once again called for the return of all persons held, detainees, and to expedite the exchange of remains.
“The co-chairs welcome the release of Armenian nationals Robert Vardanyan, Samvel Shukhyan, and Seyran Tamrazyan, detained by Azerbaijan, and urge both sides to fully and promptly complete the exchange process of all prisoners, detainees, and remains and to uphold their commitments to ensure humane treatment of detainees,” the statement reads.
