Video: Not Succeeding in His Field, He Has Started to Engage in Other Issues - Secretary of the Security Council on Onik Gasparyan
We have provided additional clarifications as to why this particular section was published, as there are remaining sections pertaining to Armenia and security issues that we believe it is inappropriate to publish. This was stated by the Secretary of the Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, during a conversation with reporters after the government meeting, addressing the leaked recording of the minutes from the Security Council meeting held on September 30, regarding which Onik Gasparyan claimed that the minutes do not fully reflect the content of the reports.
In relation to Onik Gasparyan's proposal to establish a parliamentary commission to investigate the circumstances of the war, the Secretary of the Security Council said, “We were also surprised that Onik Gasparyan, being the former chief of staff of the Armed Forces, made such a demand,” adding that the published recording refutes Gasparyan's statement.
According to him, Gasparyan pointed out that “after being appointed as chief of staff, I presented a report to the Security Council regarding the situation in the region and suggested taking diplomatic and political steps.” However, during the Security Council meeting on June 19, Gasparyan did not have a report. Onik Gasparyan's first report regarding the region was presented at the Security Council meeting on August 21. “In his approximately ten-page report, there is no mention of the word diplomacy,” emphasized the Secretary of the Security Council.
Armen Grigoryan stated that Onik Gasparyan has been involved in important internal political processes since the war, yet has not provided any clarifications. According to the Secretary of the Security Council, Gasparyan mentioned in his report that we have had successes in the direction of Jabrail and that the enemy has had no progress. “If he claimed there was any progress, the members of the Security Council could understand that we have not given up our positions, and in this context, especially considering that in August it was stated that we would crush the enemy, the logic suggests that the report is entirely within that framework; therefore, we are confident that this issue has been completely clarified,” he noted, adding that Onik Gasparyan reported something entirely different on September 30.
According to him, since Onik Gasparyan has not had normal success in his area of responsibility, he has started to engage in other issues.
