Video: Head of the State Revenue Committee on Syunik's Customs Warehouses and Political Pressures
Checks at the customs warehouses in Syunik have been ongoing for some time and have been under permanent observation. This was stated by the head of the State Revenue Committee, Eduard Hovhannisyan, during a conversation with reporters after a government meeting, adding that all of this is not related to the events in Syunik; it is merely the journalists who are connecting them to those events (when a group of citizens attempted to obstruct the Prime Minister's movement during his visit).
“The customs warehouse must comply with the requirements and criteria established by law. Inspections have been carried out, and we have noted that not only has the permission for the operation of the Agaraki terminal been revoked, but also the operation of another customs warehouse that did not comply with the customs regulations has been halted,” Hovhannisyan said.
When asked how he could prove that this is not political pressure on the mayor of Meghri, the head of the SRC noted that it is already clear from the questions posed that it is difficult to convince those with an opposing opinion. “I don’t see the need to convince the public either. I answered your questions and explained our actions. Currently, goods have been unloaded and cleared at the customs warehouse in the area, and these operations are now taking place at the Meghri customs point, where there is also another customs warehouse,” Hovhannisyan added, noting that the public has always been informed about the violations noted.
