Live: The National Assembly is discussing legislative package for amendments to the Electoral Code
The National Assembly has convened an extraordinary session to discuss a package of amendments to the Electoral Code. The extraordinary session has been initiated by members of the 'My Step' faction.
The Electoral Code will be discussed in both the first and second readings. The matter is that if a Prime Minister is not elected a second time during the special session of the National Assembly on May 10, the parliament will be dissolved. Now, the 'My Step' faction aims to adopt the amendments to the Electoral Code before that date, to which the Venice Commission's opinion has also been received.
It is worth mentioning that one amendment has already been made to the electoral code, which abolished the proportional system and transitioned to a simple proportional representation with closed party lists.
