Robert Kocharyan Responds to Levon Ter-Petrosyan

We have always been fundamentally opposed to the one-sided disclosure of details from non-public meetings. It is not correct, especially when the person recounting these details distorts their content. This was stated by Viktor Soghomonyan, head of the office of the 2nd President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, on his Facebook page.

“In any case, the meeting that took place on March 25 between the former presidents of Armenia and Artsakh was initiated by Ter-Petrosyan’s proposal. President Kocharyan was informed about the meeting proposal by Bako Sahakyan, who also mentioned that Ter-Petrosyan has an idea of participating together in early elections. President Kocharyan declined this idea, which Bako Sahakyan subsequently communicated to Ter-Petrosyan. Nevertheless, the latter suggested that the meeting should take place. And it did happen.

During the meeting, there was indeed no discussion, as Robert Kocharyan once again rejected the proposed topic, citing moral considerations, stating that he intends to participate in elections in a different format if they are held prematurely. Moreover, this step would harm the “Movement for the Salvation of the Homeland.” This is the reality.

It may seem that Ter-Petrosyan said everything correctly, and I am merely repeating his story. But this is not the case; in particular, he seems to accidentally miss that the “Movement for the Salvation of the Homeland” was established by President Kocharyan.

P.S. Regarding the proposal to go together in early elections, we have already chosen a different format of participation, which we will announce in the near future,” the statement reads.
