Police Discusses the Possibility of Issuing Chip-Equipped License Plates
The Police of the Republic of Armenia is conducting discussions aimed at eliminating cases of car license plate theft. This was stated by Acting Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan during a Q&A session with the government in the National Assembly, responding to a question from Gevorg Papoyan, a member of the 'My Step' faction.
“The police are actively working on this issue in collaboration with other agencies. Solutions are being proposed in several directions. One option is to issue chip-equipped license plates, which would allow for the tracking of their location, while also tightening the responsibility for such crimes,” Avinyan explained.
The acting deputy prime minister also noted that the possibility of restoring lost license plates is being discussed. “I believe that the police will soon present an initiative to address this issue in an urgent manner,” stated Tigran Avinyan.
