Former Defense Minister's Charges Reclassified by Special Investigative Service
The charges against former Defense Minister Mikayel Harutyunyan have been reclassified by the Special Investigative Service. Harutyunyan is now involved as an accused under part 3 of Article 309 of the Armenian Criminal Code, which pertains to the abuse of official powers, resulting in serious consequences, instead of under Article 300.1, which related to the overthrow of the constitutional order.
This information was confirmed to Auroranews by the Armenian Special Investigative Service. It is noteworthy that during the events of March 1, 2008, instructions were given by the prosecutor in charge of the case to conduct the necessary procedural actions aimed at reclassifying the charges and determining a new indictment against Harutyunyan, who held the position of Minister of Defense at that time.
