It Is Known Who Burned the Statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Yerevan
On April 29, reports emerged in the media that the statue of Mahatma Gandhi had been vandalized. The operational group of the Mashtots police department clarified at the scene that the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and its pedestal, located in the park adjacent to Halabyan and Margaryan streets, had been damaged.
Through joint efforts by the criminal investigators of the Yerevan police department and the Mashtots division, as well as officers from the National Security Service of Yerevan, the identity of the perpetrator was determined. A 61-year-old resident of Yerevan was taken to the Mashtots police department on May 3 and provided a confession.
An investigation is underway.
