In Armenia, It's Easier to Build a Self-Built Structure than to Follow Legal Channels, Tunyan
In Armenia, it is easier to construct a self-built structure and then legalize it than to go through the legal process. This was stated today by Babken Tunyan, a member of the 'My Step' faction, during a parliamentary session discussing a proposal put forward by 10 members of the same faction aimed at amending the Administrative Violations and Criminal Codes to exclude the legalization of illegal constructions.
Tunyan noted that there is an agreement with the Yerevan municipality to simplify the practice of obtaining construction permits on community lands as a preventive measure against unauthorized constructions.
“Therefore, we propose to include this issue in the agenda. By the second reading, we will understand whether we have baseline data, what can be done, and to what extent we can neutralize all risks,” Tunyan said.
With the majority's vote, the issue was included in the agenda of the four-day session and will be discussed in more detail in the coming days.
