Armenia and Artsakh Must Rush, Azerbaijan Has Gained Starting Advantage

Tigran Abrahamyan, head of the "Henaket" analytical center and former security advisor to the President of Artsakh, made a post on his Facebook page discussing Azerbaijan's and Armenia's positional work along the border in various directions.

The post states:

Azerbaijan's active engineering work along the border with Artsakh and Armenia will remain a top priority in the coming years. This holds both military and political significance for them.

From a military perspective, establishing a foothold, observation point, or pathway implies necessary equipment, and if Azerbaijan sets up a foothold in any direction on the frontline, it is natural that alongside this, they must carry out necessary infrastructural and defensive works.

I'm not even talking about the fact that under the condition of not renouncing the use of force, Azerbaijan is creating a kind of terrain that will enable them to achieve tasks of preservation, defense, counter-offensive, and offensive operations.

Politically, Azerbaijan will use the existence of borders, especially in areas adjacent to settlements, highways, and other strategic objects, to ensure control and pressure as necessary.

What we are witnessing almost daily in various parts of Artsakh or Armenia will become part of our routine. Even if Azerbaijan does not carry out provocations, it is clear that they will use their cards to exert pressure, blackmail, and gain concessions in different matters regarding their relations with Armenia.

To alleviate the situation, Armenia and Artsakh must act quickly. Azerbaijan has gained starting advantages in positioning, which is due to their rapid and targeted actions and the strange sluggishness of the Armenian side. The efforts being made by Armenia and Artsakh in this direction clearly do not neutralize the pace set by Azerbaijan. Moreover, even under conditions of unregulated borders, Armenia had better prerequisites at the start; however, it did not take advantage of its opportunities, and currently, the Armenian side is in the role of the pursuer.

Armenia is not investing the necessary resources to ensure the needed positioning in this new situation, and if we lose the opportunity now, maintaining border balance in the coming years will be problematic, which will have serious political, military, economic, and social repercussions for us.
