Major Car Accident and Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Occurs in Yerevan; 4 Injured
Today, on May 3rd, a car accident and pedestrian hit-and-run occurred in Yerevan. At around 09:10, on David Bek Street, on the section leading from the Public Television Tower to the residential area known as "Sari Tagh Calzivoy," two BMW vehicles — one with license plate 30 PN 400 and the other with license plate 34 LC 192 — collided.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan from the scene, as a result of the accident, four individuals with bodily injuries were transported to the "Erebuni" medical center. Witnesses at the scene reported that before the collision of the mentioned BMWs, there was a previous crash involving the BMW 30 PN 400 and a Toyota Corolla with license plate 36 VP 507, after which the drivers stopped and called for insurance. At that moment, the BMW 34 LS 192 vehicle hit pedestrians, reportedly injuring two of those taken to the hospital.
The police are currently identifying the drivers and the injured parties. Officers from the Military Police's Criminal Investigation Division are involved, as one of the drivers is a service member of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia.
The firefighting and rescue team from the Yerevan Fire and Rescue Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations promptly arrived on the scene. Citizens and rescuers were the first to provide aid to the injured, as emergency medical teams from the Yerevan 1-03 service administered first aid to the victims before transporting them to the hospital.
Witnesses indicated that one of the hit-and-run victims had reportedly suffered a severed leg.
