Individual Steals Money from Citizens Under the Pretext of Transferring Funds to Their Sons in Service

The Prosecutor's Office of Artsakh has reported that since 2020, an unidentified individual has been regularly defrauding various citizens of the Republic of Artsakh. By calling them from different phone numbers and presenting himself as an employee of a Armenian television company, this person has been luring citizens with false promises of transferring money to their sons serving in the army and sending these funds from Armenia within a short period.

Using methods to evoke sympathy and gain trust, the individual has been consistently stealing varying amounts of money from several Artsakh residents through intermediary taxi drivers. Immediately after appropriating the funds, he has eliminated all means of communication.

“Considering that this described case of property theft by fraudulent means continues to occur periodically, we urge the citizens of Artsakh to refrain from engaging in unreliable transactions with unknown or suspicious individuals. In the event of finding oneself in a similar situation as outlined in this publication, it is important to promptly report it to the Artsakh police,” said the statement released by the Prosecutor's Office of Artsakh.
