Baku Plans to Activate Border Demarcation Work with Moscow This Summer
Baku intends to increase the activity of cooperation with Moscow regarding the demarcation of the Russia-Azerbaijan border during the summer months. This information was reported by RIA Novosti, citing Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov.
"The process of demarcation of the Azerbaijan-Russia border continues. Last year, we had to postpone some activities due to the pandemic. We hope to raise activity in this direction this summer," Khalafov stated in an interview with journalists.
The border between Russia and Azerbaijan was established by a treaty signed on October 3, 2010, in Baku. It came into effect on the date of exchange of documents, July 18, 2011. The length of the land interstate border between Russia and Azerbaijan is 284 km.
Earlier, representatives of both sides stated that there are no disputed issues remaining on the Russia-Azerbaijan state border. Agreements on border issues have already been ratified by the parliaments of both countries.
The provision on the establishment of a joint Russian-Azerbaijani commission for demarcation was signed on May 15, 2013, in Moscow, following the first meeting of the commission.
