Unprecedented Attention is Given to Agriculture in Armenia, Says My Step MP
Over the past three years, significant progress has been made in the agricultural sector. It can be confidently stated that agriculture in Armenia has never received such attention before. Numerous new programs have been launched, while existing programs have seen substantial improvements. This was noted by Arthur Hovhannisyan, a member of the My Step Alliance in the Armenian National Assembly, in a post on his Facebook page.
He highlighted several initiatives: Under the state support program for leasing agricultural machinery, 764 beneficiaries have received 1,187 units of agricultural equipment, including tractors and combines. The 'State Support Program for the Implementation of Small and Medium Greenhouse Farms' has been initiated, and under the 'Smart Livestock Barns Construction or Reconstruction' program, a compensation of 191.5 million AMD has been provided, resulting in the commissioning of 13 barns.
Additionally, 909 million AMD has been allocated for the development of cattle breeding, while 309.9 million AMD has supported sheep and goat farming programs. State support programs for promoting spring and autumn wheat production have also been implemented. Under the 'Subsidization of Interest Rates for Loans for the Implementation of Hail Protection Networks' program, the government has allocated 59.5 million AMD for interest rate subsidies. Furthermore, an agricultural insurance system has been introduced, under which 3,370 insurance contracts have already been signed. The volume of procurement of fruits, vegetables, and grapes has increased by about 76% compared to 2018.
Along with all these efforts, active work is being carried out to create and modernize the infrastructure of rural communities and irrigation systems. There are many other programs underway that promise better results for 2021,” the MP wrote.
