A Villager in Aigeshat Stabs His Mocking Peer: The Case Goes to Court

The preliminary investigation into a criminal case initiated in 2015 regarding willful bodily harm to a resident of Aigeshat village has been completed in the Vagharshapat investigative department of the Armavir regional investigative committee.

According to the investigation's findings, a resident of the neighboring village of Aghavnatun, under the influence of alcohol, mocked a resident of Aigeshat village. During the ensuing argument and mutual scuffle, the resident of Aghavnatun used a sharp instrument he had in his possession, deliberately inflicting multiple blows on the victim that resulted in both minor and life-threatening serious injuries before fleeing the scene.

Based on sufficient evidence gathered, charges have been filed against the resident of Aghavnatun under Article 112, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. The court has granted the prosecution's request to select pre-trial detention as a measure of restraint for the accused; however, it also deemed acceptable the application of an alternative measure of restraint, bail.

The preliminary investigation has concluded, and with the accusatory conclusion reached, the criminal case has been sent to court.
