WRed
The US Embassy and consulates in Turkey will be closed on Monday and Tuesday for security reasons, according to reports from РИА Новости.
The closure is prompted by the potential for protests against President Joe Biden's recognition of the Armenian Genocide, as stated by the American diplomatic mission.
“Protests may occur regarding the commemoration of the Armenians who perished in the Ottoman Empire following the White House's statement. As a precautionary measure, the US Embassy in Turkey, the US Consulate General in Istanbul, and the consulates in Adana and Izmir will be closed for regular services and visa assistance on April 26 and 27,” the statement reads.
