Turkish Politician Calls for Closure of Incirlik Air Base Following Biden's Recognition of Genocide
Turkey should immediately assert complete control over the Incirlik air base and repatriate American servicemen stationed there following U.S. President Joe Biden's recognition of the Armenian Genocide, according to Doğu Perinçek, the chairman of the Patriotic Party. The TASS news agency reports the Turkish politician's views.
“The Turkish armed forces must immediately establish full control over the Incirlik air base and return the American soldiers home within 15 days,” Perinçek stated.
He suggested that relations between Turkey and Russia could improve after Biden’s declaration. Perinçek believes Biden’s statement targets Turkey, Asia, Russia, and China.
The politician also remarked that Biden’s recognition of the genocide confirms his desire to undermine Erdoğan's administration.
