Armen Gevorgyan: 'Yesterday, Nikol Resigned, and It Was Accepted by the President of Russia'
Yesterday, Nikol effectively resigned, and it was accepted by the President of Russia. This can be understood from the Kremlin's report on yesterday's phone conversation. This was stated by former Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, Armen Gevorgyan, on his Telegram channel.
“Yesterday, two events, in essence, went unnoticed during the news coverage of the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Armenian Genocide. First, yesterday, Nikol effectively resigned, and it was accepted by the President of Russia. This can be understood from the Kremlin's report on the phone conversation. Now, Nikol must fulfill all the formalities in Armenia. By the way, during the conversation on April 24, there was no mention of the topic of genocide.
Secondly, Judge Meliksetyan allowed the detention of a Syunik activist, and this happened precisely on April 24. A disgrace.
Another observation: yesterday, an informal competition began regarding whose role was decisive in Biden's recognition of the genocide. I would like all the present high-ranking state officials to discuss with the same enthusiasm and fervor who among them is responsible for the deaths of 5000 boys, the collapse of statehood in Artsakh, and the disintegration of our army. Meanwhile, President Biden recognized the genocide solely due to the efforts of our compatriots in America, and let no one ascribe to themselves what they did not accomplish.
We are thankful for the use of the term genocide. However, we must remain vigilant. Such great powers as America do not do anything by accident. In a few days, the euphoria will fade, and we may face many difficult geopolitical challenges, such as the dilemma of recognition in exchange for a corridor.”
