Unexploded Missile from Osa-AKM Complex Discovered in Gegharkunik

According to Shamshyan.com, the Gegharkunik regional police department has continued to discover a large quantity of weapons and ammunition as part of the "Arsenal-2021" complex preventive measures over recent months.

On April 22, a 58-year-old resident of Gegharkunik, Hovsep Malkhasyan, voluntarily handed over a revolver and 18 rounds of 5.6 mm caliber ammunition to the Martuni police. He reported that the firearm belonged to his deceased father, and he had found it while cleaning his home.

An additional resident of Gegharkunik, 30-year-old Mher Sergeyann, also voluntarily surrendered a revolver and 6 rounds of 5.6 mm caliber ammunition, claiming that the weapon belonged to his late grandfather and had been discovered during cleaning work in his apartment's basement.

The Martuni police are preparing materials concerning these instances.

Furthermore, a 55-year-old resident, Robert Hakobyan, reported that he had found a missile in the area known as "Gili" in the village of Tsovak. Law enforcement discovered an intact surface-to-air missile from the Osa-AKM complex approximately 3 kilometers from the village, which had been left over from the war in the fall of 2020.

To safely neutralize the missile, bomb disposal experts from the Ministry of Defense's N military unit arrived at the scene. The materials regarding the incident have been forwarded to the investigative department of the Gegharkunik regional investigative committee.
