Shots Fired in Armavir Region: Gunfire Directed at Arriving Law Enforcement

On April 22, shots were fired in the Armavir region. Around 1:30 AM, the police department of Ejmiadzin received a call reporting that a citizen armed with an automatic weapon had stabbed an individual in the Zvartnots neighborhood of Ejmiadzin city, threatening to harm the victim's relatives.

According to Shamshyan.com, an operational group from the Ejmiadzin police department arrived at the scene and determined that a 60-year-old man named Tital Sloyan had been taken to the Vagharshapat medical center with stab wounds. While doctors were fighting for the victim's life, police identified that the attacker was a relative, 41-year-old Aziz Sloyan.

The operational group, led by Deputy Head of the Police Department Arthur Fishyan and Head of Criminal Investigation Amatuni Hakobyan, went to the site, where shots were fired in their direction from a firearm. Police established that the shooter was A. Sloyan and began negotiations with him to convince him to lower his weapon and surrender voluntarily; however, he continued to fire and took another shot after a brief pause.

Afterward, unsure of what would happen next and risking their own lives, the officers moved toward the direction of the gunfire, where they found A. Sloyan with a gunshot wound to the lower jaw. Thanks to the timely actions of the police and doctors from the Vagharshapat hospital, A. Sloyan was taken to the hospital.

Authorities discovered the weapon used in the crime, spent cartridges, a damaged Mercedes vehicle with license plate 01 AZ 022, and traces of blood at the scene. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident.
