The World is on the Path of 'Self-Destruction': Pope Francis
The world is on the path of 'self-destruction,' warned Pope Francis, according to AP. In a video message marking Earth Day, the Pope emphasized that political leaders have the opportunity to 'better express themselves' by learning from the social injustices highlighted during the pandemic.
'Both global disasters, COVID, and climate issues show that we cannot waste empty time. Time presses on us, and as COVID-19 has shown, we have the means to solve this problem. We have the resources. It is time to act; we are on the brink of opportunities,' he stated.
He argued that the difficulties humanity faced due to the pandemic should encourage leaders to strive for innovations and inventions to better protect the planet.
He called upon 'all leaders of the world to act boldly, justly, and always tell the truth to the people, so that they know how to protect themselves from the destruction of the planet and how to safeguard the planet from destruction.'
