Full Text of Biden's Speech on the Armenian Genocide

President Joe Biden of the United States has referred to the Armenian Genocide in his annual message dedicated to the Day of Remembrance for the Armenian Genocide. Specifically, the statement published on the official White House website says:

“Every year on this day, we remember the victims of the Armenian Genocide during the Ottoman Empire and commit to preventing such atrocities. On April 24, 1915, the leadership of the Ottoman Empire began the arrests of community leaders and intellectuals in Constantinople. 1.5 million Armenians were displaced and killed. We honor the memory of the victims of the Great Genocide so that these horrors are not lost in history. We remember in a way that keeps us ever vigilant against the corrosive effects of hatred in all its forms. The survivors were forced to create homes and start new lives in various corners of the world, including the United States. The Armenian people survived with strength and resilience and rebuilt their community. Over decades, Armenian immigrants have enriched the United States in numerous ways, but they have never forgotten the tragic history that brought many of their ancestors to our country. We honor their story. We see that pain. We affirm the history. We do this not to blame, but to affirm that what happened must never happen again.”
