The Government Wants Freshness at Yerevan State University, New Council to Be Formed That Will Be More Effective, Minister

The government has no connection with the absurd expression of dismantling Yerevan State University (YSU). This was stated today during a press briefing by Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vahram Dumanyan.

“I can assert that everything is being done not to dismantle, but to build, develop, and create a healthy environment,” said Dumanyan.

When asked why a rector cannot be appointed, who the government's candidate is, Vahram Dumanyan responded, “What does the government candidate mean? We prefer that the rector be elected within the existing framework and that this issue be closed. This issue should have been resolved a long time ago. Unfortunately, it has not been resolved, but it is moving towards a solution and will be resolved.”

According to the minister, the government wants freshness to come to YSU, and a new council should be formed that will be more operational and efficient.

In response to the assertion that the government is trying to make YSU controllable, the minister said, “YSU is a state-established institution; it is not someone’s personal property. It is a national asset,” he stated.
