The Ministry of Education and Science Publishes Steps and Deadlines for First Graders Registration

The registration of first graders for the 2021-22 academic year in public educational schools of Armenia that are not the only ones in their locality will again be conducted through the online system hayt.emis.am. The information is provided by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia, outlining the registration phases.

1st Phase
Starting from May 3 at 9:00 AM, parents must verify the existence and accuracy of their personal data by logging into the stugum.emis.am website. Two fields will open where the public service numbers of the parent and child must be entered. If the parent enters the public service number but receives the response, “The system has not detected the parent-child relationship” (which should be automatically retrieved from the Civil Status Acts Registration Agency's database), the parent will be prompted to transfer the data to the Civil Status Acts Registration Agency by clicking the appropriate button on the website for digitization.

2nd Phase
From June 1 at 9:00 AM, the actual registration process will begin on the hayt.emis.am website according to the established priority. During the period from June 1 to June 10, the following applicants will be queued: one parent of the child starting first grade is an employee of the given school, and the child going to the first grade has a sibling already studying at that school.

3rd Phase
From June 11 at 9:00 AM, registration will be available for those who do not meet the above two criteria. Once the licensed places are filled at the relevant school, the online system will not provide an opportunity to register at that school. At the same time, citizens can edit their submitted applications through the system, changing the selected school and registering for another public school.

From June 11, the system will remain open throughout the academic year.

What to do if you are abroad
Parents anywhere in the world can register their child online for public schools for first grade. The system provides equal starting conditions for everyone. If you have the necessary documents, you can register from abroad, and if you have issues obtaining the necessary documents, specifically the public service number, you can organize the process through a power of attorney with notarized copies of your passport and birth certificate.

For foreign citizens and their children in Armenia, obtaining a public service number is also mandatory; it is provided when registering at the passport offices.
