Vaccinations with 'Sputnik V' Begin Today in All Regions of Armenia
Starting today, vaccinations using the Russian 'Sputnik V' vaccine will commence at polyclinics in Yerevan and across all regions of Armenia. This was reported by NEWS.am Medicine, referencing the Ministry of Health.
According to the source, the vaccine was distributed among polyclinics from the end of last week, and starting Monday, citizens will be able to receive their first dose. The first recipients will be healthcare workers aged 18-54 who are working with coronavirus patients. Individuals over this age, who are part of at-risk groups, will be able to receive the vaccine after new supplies from Russia arrive.
Citizens who receive the first dose are expected to receive the second shot several weeks later to ensure complete immunity.
To reduce the risks of vaccination processes among at-risk groups, the AstraZeneca vaccine is deemed appropriate for the following groups:
- Individuals aged 65 and older
- Healthcare workers aged 55 and older
- Chronic patients aged 55 and older
- Residents and staff of social care centers aged 55 and older
The 'Sputnik V' vaccine is appropriate for use among the following at-risk groups:
- Healthcare workers aged 18-54
- Chronic patients aged 18-54
- Residents and staff of social care centers aged 18-54
Armenia has procured the 'AstraZeneca' and 'Sputnik V' vaccines in batches of 24,000 and 15,000 doses, respectively.
