Shurnukh Resident Detained with Torture Transferred to Hospital

A Shurnukh resident who was detained under torture has been transferred to a hospital. This information has been shared by lawyer Robert Hayrapetyan on his Facebook page. It was previously reported that a video has circulated online showing the officers of the Syunik division of the police bringing a Shurnukh resident with health issues to the RA Investigative Committee. The individual, Ararat Aghabekyan, a man aged between 50 and 60, informs the police in the video that he has a high fever, suffers from pneumonia, and did not take his medication before leaving home. He is brought to the police division in handcuffs.

“His condition has sharply deteriorated, and his lungs are 40% affected,” Hayrapetyan wrote.

We remind that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was met with insulting remarks and protests yesterday, April 21, in Agarak, Meghri, and Kapan. He was unable to enter Kajaran because residents had blocked the city's entrance, while relatives of victims went to the cemetery to prevent Pashinyan from entering there.

On the night of April 20, the Prime Minister visited the community of Shurnukh, where residents also received him with agitation and coldness. Today, 16 residents of Syunik have been detained on charges of hooliganism.
