I believe that his visit was not pre-election but was connected to the changes in Syunik that he has not yet managed to implement in favor of Azerbaijan. This was stated by Vazgen Manukyan, the prime ministerial candidate of the Homeland Salvation Movement, during a conversation with reporters regarding Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s visit to Syunik.

“He frightened the people with war; I have the impression that he did not stop the war but rather sacrificed many lives to instill fear of war among the people. He intimidates a population that was lined up at military registration offices on the first days of the war to go to the front. He must definitely be driven out. I said that if capturing Artsakh was a matter of prestige for Azerbaijan, then Syunik is a strategic issue for them. Syunik matters more to our neighbors, Iran and China, than the issue of Artsakh. In his nearly three years of governance, I have seen no benefit that he brings to Armenia, only to Azerbaijan,” said Vazgen Manukyan.

Manukyan characterized Pashinyan's idea of organizing military service every five years for three months as “idiocy, the words of a fool.”

“He is saying something deceitful, that people who have lost children should not fear losing their spouses. He is deceiving naïve people. There is no such army. Every citizen should think that their honor and dignity depend on removing Nikol,” he stated.
