Citizen Injured After Stepping on Landmine While Collecting Wild Herbs at Armenian-Azerbaijan Border
According to SHAMSHYAN.com, an extraordinary incident occurred a few days ago in the border zone of Tavush province. As reported by photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, on April 16, around 09:30, a call was made to the Ijevan police department from the Ijevan medical center regarding a citizen being admitted with the diagnosis of "amputation of the lower third of the right leg." A task force from the Ijevan police department, led by the on-duty officer, was dispatched to the hospital.
The police discovered that the injured individual was 59-year-old Nodaro Mirzoyan, a resident of the village of Azatamut in Tavush province. He sustained the injury around 09:00 on the same day while collecting wild herbs in the administrative territory of Kayanavan community, after stepping on a landmine and subsequently detonating it.
According to G. Shamshyan, the materials prepared at the Ijevan police department have been forwarded to the military police of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia in Ijevan.
