Video: Police Officer Shoots 16-Year-Old Black Girl in the U.S., Incident Captured by Body Camera
In Columbus, Ohio, a police officer shot 16-year-old Ma'Khia Bryant. This was reported by local 10TV on their Twitter account.
The incident occurred around 4:45 PM local time after the police received a call about a girl attacking someone with a knife. Upon arriving at the scene, the officer fired at the girl, who was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died about an hour later.
According to the victim's aunt, Hazel Bryant, her niece lived in a foster home and had argued with a family member. She also stated that the girl had a knife but had thrown it aside before the officer opened fire.
According to WNBC, the victim's name was Ma'Khia Bryant, and she was 16 years old, as reported by TASS.
The newspaper noted that about 50 aggressive individuals gathered at the scene, some of whom called for revenge.
Mayor Andrew Ginther urged residents to remain calm and allow the investigation to clarify the situation. The officer who fired the shots had a body camera attached that recorded his actions.
