Nothing Could Be Found Against Onik Gasparyan: 'Haykakan Jirair'

According to the 'Haykakan Jirair' newspaper, the authorities' attempts to punish yet another dissenter have failed. In an article dated April 17, it was reported that the political power had issued an order to law enforcement agencies to gather 'compromising materials' against the former head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Onik Gasparyan.

The goal is to collect 'compromising materials' to initiate criminal cases against him and involve him as a defendant. However, our sources in the law enforcement system assert that the search efforts have been fruitless, and no evidence has been found against Onik Gasparyan. In other words, there is nothing of a criminal nature in his activities or past.

At this moment, there is no option to initiate criminal proceedings against Onik Gasparyan. This means that there are dissenters whom, even with the greatest desire, it is impossible to take behind bars. Nevertheless, it is evident from the authorities' propaganda that, until June 20, Nikol Pashinyan’s government intends to designate O. Gasparyan as the main culprit of the 2020 war. The legal consequences of this political designation are difficult to predict.
