Shooting in Central Tbilisi

An unidentified person opened fire in central Tbilisi, injuring a young man, reports First Channel. The incident occurred around noon on Nakashidze Street in the Saburtalo district.

According to eyewitnesses, the assailant was on a moped belonging to the delivery service 'Glovo.' He approached the victim, pulled out a weapon from his bag, and opened fire. As a result, the man sustained two gunshot wounds.

At the time of the attack, the victim was with a friend. After the shooting, a physical altercation occurred between him and the assailant, resulting in the assailant sustaining a serious head injury.

Police arrived promptly at the scene, managed to track down the attacker, and arrested him. Both the victim and the armed individual were transported to the hospital. Their conditions are stable, and their lives are not in danger.

Local residents link the incident to earlier conflicts and a desire for revenge. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has initiated a criminal case for attempted murder and for unlawful acquisition and possession of firearms. Currently, Ioseliani Street is closed.
