Kapan Mayor: I Don't Even Want to See Her Regarding Pashinyan's Visit to Syunik

Kapan Mayor Gevorg Paryan learned through the media that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is heading to the Syunik region. In a conversation with NEWS.am, he stated that he does not want to see Pashinyan.

“The situation is developing so rapidly regarding various issues, and the corridor issue is so alarming that discussions around it are becoming quite serious,” said the Kapan mayor, responding to a question about whether he would agree to meet with the prime minister if an invitation were extended.

When asked if this is about the Meghri corridor, the Kapan mayor responded, “You know, we say ‘Meghri corridor,’ our enemy calls it ‘Zangezur corridor.’ Now there are questions about whether it’s the Meghri corridor, or if this corridor pertains to Kapan, Kajaran, Goris; it’s unclear what it refers to. Do you understand? There are various and complex questions, and it’s highly possible that meetings will occur with different people based on community or regional interests. I don’t want to make harsh statements right away; I have long shown my attitude towards that person,” said Mayor Paryan.

We recall that on April 17, during a meeting with residents in the Zahrat'ap community, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said, “Azerbaijan continues to say that we will have a ‘Zangezur corridor.’ Fine, they announce it; we are also going to declare that we will have a Nakhchivan corridor, and we will also have a north-Azerbaijani corridor. In other words, we will give a road in exchange for a road.”

“I don’t like those statements; it’s concerning and unclear whether that person is creating preconditions or is using his words to construct something regarding the demands of our enemy or under those conditions,” noted the Kapan mayor.
