Is the Issue of Soldiers Just a Political Question and an Excuse to Attack the Russians? - Arpine Hovhannisyan

Arpine Hovhannisyan, the head of the NGO "Legal Education and Oversight," posted on her Facebook page about the discussion of Armenian prisoners of war in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). She specifically noted that this discussion does not bring us even a millimeter closer to the return of our boys. Her post is as follows:

“The discussion of Armenian prisoners in PACE has no purpose other than ‘release of steam’. It does not bring us even a millimeter closer to the return of our boys. Europe benefits from that discussion, as does the vile figure who threw our soldiers under Aliyev's feet and the Soros-affiliated anti-Russian circles. Some are gaining fame. The prisoners and Armenian-Russian relations are suffering.

1. Europe benefits because with fiery but ineffective speeches, it attempts to compensate for its months of silence, as well as during the war when they were as quiet as fish regarding the atrocities committed against us by the Azerbaijanis.
2. Europe benefits again, because it has another opportunity to touch on anti-Russian themes and accuse the Russians, when their urgent issue for several months has been the Navalny case. By the way, this session too. The Russians are not against discussing the issue of Armenian prisoners of war; rather, they oppose Europeans bringing up Navalny and one more anti-Russian ‘highly important’ topic. They are against the entire agenda of PACE, which is against them. We demand others to be more Armenian than us, but we do not remove the rightful successor of Talaat.
3. It is a good opportunity for the immediate responsible party for deaths, injuries, and prisoners to carry out the ‘new Muradov’ operation. In other words, the Russians are to blame and everyone else, except for themselves.
4. For anti-Russian and Soros-affiliated circles and media, it is a good opportunity to scream that the Russians did this or that, while the real culprit is not even questioned about the prisoners. About the vile document he signed.
5. The prisoners and their relatives are suffering. The latter, because the band of liars sets another ‘empty plane’ on stage and deceives people, while the prisoners… because they are still in hell.

PS: When I was speaking with one of the delegates from PACE, who, by the way, has influence over Azerbaijan, updating the lists and presenting the situation, they said a few things. I asked them: ‘Do you allow me to publish certain things at least for the relatives?’ They literally said the following: ‘If you want success in this matter, silence is needed.’ And I kept quiet. Now, which fool wants to convince us that public and fiery anti-Russian speeches will help us? For the Supreme Chief Grave Defiler, it certainly does not matter what happens, but does the issue of soldiers still remain just a political question and an excuse to attack the Russians for journalists, analysts, and the like?”
