Five Dead and Eight Missing After Vessel Capsizes in Louisiana

Five bodies have been recovered after a vessel capsized off the coast of Louisiana, with searches for eight missing individuals now suspended. This was reported by the U.S. Coast Guard, according to RIA Novosti.

"Unfortunately, five have been found deceased, and eight are considered missing," said Coast Guard Captain Will Watson during a press briefing.

In a statement, Coast Guard personnel revealed that rescuers and volunteers had searched for the missing individuals for 175 hours. "Suspending the search was one of the most difficult decisions the Coast Guard has to make. I would like to extend my deepest and sincerest condolences to all the families, friends, and loved ones affected by this tragedy," Watson emphasized.

The Coast Guard received a distress call on April 13 concerning the 39-foot commercial vessel involved in the incident. There were 19 people on board at the time. Initially, the Coast Guard reported that twelve individuals were missing and six had been rescued following the capsizing.
