Discussion Concluded, but PACE Adopted No Resolution or Statement on Armenian Prisoners of War

The discussion concluded, but the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) did not adopt any resolution or statement regarding Armenian prisoners of war. The issue of the return of Armenian captives held in Azerbaijan was addressed during the session.

During the nearly one-hour meeting, there were three types of speeches. The first group consisted of European parliamentarians who urged Azerbaijan, either in a friendly or more serious tone, to return Armenian prisoners of war to facilitate 'Armenian-Azerbaijani reconciliation.'

The second group of speeches came from representatives of the Armenian delegation, who attempted to convey to PACE parliamentarians the striking examples of Azerbaijan's anti-Armenian policies. The third group comprised Azerbaijani delegates who recited the perennial narratives about 'occupied territories' that have persisted for the past 30 years.

As a result, PACE did not adopt any resolution, decision, or statement regarding Armenian prisoners of war. Everyone left the hall with a plan to return the next morning to discuss another issue.
