Who Can Be Buried in a Family Cemetery: New Package of Bills from the National Assembly
The National Assembly has approved in the first reading a package of bills aimed at amending the law on "Organization of Funerals and Operation of Cemeteries and Crematories." The proposed legislation seeks to define the categories of individuals who have the right to be buried in a family cemetery.
According to the draft, family members eligible for burial in a family grave include parents, children, adopters, adopted children, biological or non-biological siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, spouses, in-laws, and for them, sons-in-law and daughters-in-law.
The draft authored by members of the "My Step" faction, Nikolay Baghdasaryan, Sergey Movsisyan, and Viktor Yengibaryan, was passed with 80 votes in favor, 1 against, and 23 abstentions.
