Turkey Denies Approval for Production of Sputnik V Vaccine

The member of Turkey's scientific council on coronavirus, Afshin Emre Kayipmaz, clarified that the trials for the Russian "Sputnik V" coronavirus vaccine are ongoing and that it is too early to discuss its production in the country. This report comes from RIA Novosti, which noted that the Turkish newspaper Yeni Safak had previously cited Kayipmaz, stating that the production of the "Sputnik V" vaccine had been approved in Turkey.

"I told the journalist that trials of the Russian vaccine are being conducted in Turkey, and only a few phases have shown positive results. I didn't say anything more. The journalist probably didn't understand me correctly. However, I am disappointed; I called the editorial office, and they are removing that news from the site," said the Turkish official.

It should be noted that earlier today, there were reports regarding the approval for the production of "Sputnik V" in Turkey.
