Oldest Resident of the United States Passes Away at 116

The oldest resident of the United States has passed away in Charlotte, North Carolina, as reported by the Associated Press. According to various sources, Hester Ford was born in 1904 or 1905. In the summer of 2020, her family celebrated her 116th birthday, but according to the Gerontology Research Group, she lived to be 115 years and 245 days old.

The American woman married at the age of 14 and gave birth to her first child a year later. Over the course of her life, she had 12 children, 68 grandchildren, 125 great-grandchildren, and more than 120 great-great-grandchildren. Until the age of 108, she lived independently in her home and had never been hospitalized. Before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, she attended church every Sunday.

Following her death, the oldest living people in the United States are now Thelma Sutcliffe and Maria Branyas Morera, both of whom are 114 years old.
