Navalny Transferred to Prison Hospital for Convicts
Alexei Navalny has been recently transferred from the IK-2 isolation facility in Pokrov to the prison hospital for convicts in Vladimir. According to the press service of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Vladimir region, Navalny has been on hunger strike since March 31 after the prison administration refused to allow an independent doctor to attend to him following health issues and complaints of sleep disturbances. The condition of the opposition figure has sharply deteriorated in recent days, experiencing problems with renal failure and metabolic disorders, as well as complaints of pain in his legs and back. His supporters and lawyers confirmed that he is almost unable to walk.
“The medical commission of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia decided to transfer A. Navalny to the hospital for convicts located within the territory of IK-3 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in Vladimir region, which, among other things, specializes in the dynamic monitoring of such patients,” the statement reads.
The prison administration also reported that Navalny’s health is currently assessed as satisfactory, with positive dynamics, and he is being examined daily by a general practitioner. With the patient’s consent, he has been prescribed vitamin therapy.
