Gagik Djhangiryan Breaks Office Seal and Enters Ruben Vardazaryan's Office

Any individual who can enter the office of the President of the Supreme Judicial Council is exclusively the president himself, not the acting official. This was stated by Ruben Vardazaryan, the president of the Supreme Judicial Council (whose powers are temporarily suspended), in an interview with NEWS.am.

It is noted that a short while ago, ArmDaily.am reported that the acting president of the Supreme Judicial Council, Gagik Djhangiryan, broke the seal of the office and invaded Ruben Vardazaryan's office.

Vardazaryan indicated that the Supreme Judicial Council is not in session: “My private office is sealed. Any individual who can enter that room is exclusively the president of the Supreme Judicial Council, not the acting official. In my deep conviction, that office and the service vehicle belong to the president of the Supreme Judicial Council. If the president’s powers are suspended, he also has no right to use either the service vehicle or the office. This right cannot be exercised by the acting president of the Supreme Judicial Council either.”

He mentioned that this should remain the case until a president of the Supreme Judicial Council is elected.

“Any action related to that office, if someone attempts to break the seal and invade, later becomes a criminally prosecutable act,” Vardazaryan noted.

It is worth mentioning that Ruben Vardazaryan has been charged under Article 332, Part 3 of the RA Criminal Code (interfering in any way with court activities with the aim of obstructing the administration of justice by using his official position). A signature not to leave has been applied as a measure of restraint against him. It should be noted that Ruben Vardazaryan’s powers are currently temporarily suspended due to the existence of a criminal case, and the position of the president of the Supreme Judicial Council is temporarily held by the senior member of the council, Gagik Djhangiryan.
