I Haven't Been to Shushi, So I Can't Say Whether It Was Captured or Surrendered, Says 'My Step' MP

Lilit A.

The statement made by the Chief of the General Staff, Onik Gasparyan, suggested an attempt at a military coup. That is to say, if the Chief of the General Staff demands the resignation of the Prime Minister, and Vazgen Manukyan calls on the military from the square to get involved in politics, we will criticize that, said Narek Grigoryan, a member of the 'My Step' parliamentary group.

When asked why the officials blame everyone for the defeat in the war, for instance, what the responsibility of a 60-year-old grandmother from a remote village is, and why they don't name specifics about whom they mean, Narek Grigoryan responded: 'First of all, I mean myself, because I was on the battlefield, and I didn't have the opportunity to lead my squad to the end, because many had already been exhausted; the soldiers were many. We are all guilty; I, you, all of us. When it was announced from the square that the lands were surrendered, no, we did not surrender. We went there to hold the ground; those who didn’t come have surrendered; maybe if they had come, we would have held that land.'

Asked whether Shushi was captured by the enemy or surrendered, Narek Grigoryan replied: 'I don't know, I haven't been there. I will speak from where I have been; I have been in Lachin, in Karvachar. I haven't been to Shushi, so I can't say.'
