World Weightlifting Champion Simon Martirosyan Involved in Fatal Pedestrian Accident

On April 12, a fatal pedestrian accident occurred in Yerevan. Around 22:50, 24-year-old Simon Martirosyan, a resident of Yerevan, struck a pedestrian with his Mercedes CLT 550, license plate 01 MT 333, while the man was crossing the street at a prohibited area near "Yerevan Mall" on Arshakunyats Avenue.

According to reports from Shamshyan.com, the driver did not flee the scene and called for an ambulance. He assisted in transferring the injured pedestrian to the hospital; however, the pedestrian tragically passed away en route, not regaining consciousness.

The police and investigative department are working to determine the identity of the deceased. According to G. Shamshyan's sources, the driver is none other than weightlifting world champion and Olympic silver medalist Simon Martirosyan, who had just returned to Yerevan today with the Armenian national weightlifting team from the European Championships held in Moscow.
