Over 100 Residents of Khorunk Village Block Yerevan-Armvair Highway in Protest

An emergency situation has unfolded in the Armavir region for over an hour now. More than 100 residents of Khorunk village have closed off the Yerevan-Armvair highway at the entrance to Ejmiatsin as a form of protest, demanding that representatives of "Armenian Electric Networks" answer why they have suffered substantial material losses due to power fluctuations in the village for the past three days.

In an interview with SHAMSHYAN.com, participants of the protest stated, "For years, we have submitted written and verbal requests to solve this problem, and each time we are met with indifference. With just a light breeze, the village faces significant disruptions. Power fluctuations begin, causing damage to our electrical appliances such as refrigerators, air conditioners, and other items, leading us either to purchase new ones or repair them. Our patience has run out. They need to address this issue; otherwise, our protests will continue."

Discussions were held with the participants of the protest by Police Chief Rafael Poghosyan of the Vagharshapat division and Division Commander M. Sargsyan, after which the villagers temporarily opened the road and went to the Vagharshapat police station to discuss further resolutions to their problem.
