30-Year-Old Resident of Verishen Entered Neighbor's Home, Attempted to Rape His Wife

The Investigative Committee of Armenia has reported that, as a result of extensive investigative and procedural actions carried out in relation to a criminal case at the Goris investigative division of the Syunik regional investigative department, several circumstances have been established regarding the deliberate infliction of serious bodily harm on a neighbor by a resident of Verishen, as well as an attempted rape of the latter's wife.

According to the investigation, it was revealed that on April 7, 2021, around 00:15, a 30-year-old resident of Verishen illegally entered his neighbor's home by removing the board from the window adjacent to the entrance gate, against the will of the individuals present in the apartment. In the bedroom, taking advantage of the victim's helpless state while she was asleep, he attempted to engage in sexual intercourse with her against her will. However, he did not complete his criminal intention due to unforeseen circumstances as the woman, followed by her husband, woke up from sleep.

Subsequently, the 30-year-old man deliberately struck the homeowner once with a sharp cutting and piercing object, causing life-threatening serious bodily harm.

Based on the accumulated evidence, the 30-year-old resident of Verishen has been charged under Article 112 (deliberate infliction of serious harm to health) and Article 138 (attempted rape) of the RA Criminal Code, as well as Article 147 (violation of the inviolability of residence). He has been taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing.
